South African actors'not tall enough to play Nelson Mandela'

IdrisElba has been chosen to play Nelson Mandela in a film version of Mandela's autobiography Long Walk to Freedom. The casting of Idris Elba, the English star of the wire,as Nelson Mandela,in an upcoming film, has caused a row after the casting agent suggested South Afracan actors are not tall enough to play the former South African president.
According to long Walk to Freedom's casting agent Moonyeenn Lee,none can measure up to Mr mandela's 6ft 4ins(1.93metres) frame."I was free to cast a south African and I auditioned some extraordinary local actors,"Mrs Lee told South African City Press newspaper,"But the main problem is the height.Mandela is a particularly tall man.On average,South African actors are not 1.9m"
It is not the first time that south african actors are been overlooked to star in films about crucial chapters in their own country's history.Thre was outrage when former Dreamgirls actress Jennifer Hdson was cast to play Madikizela-Mandela in Winnie, which is due for release this year. Also South African actors have been complaining by saying"The problem of South African bussiness is not funding our own films."
