FIFA president Sepp Blatter wishes Aston Villa’s Petrov well in battle against leukaemia

FIFA President Sepp Blatter has wished Aston Villa’s Stilian Petrov well in his battle with against leukaemia.

The 32-year-old is due to start treatment in London on Monday after being diagnosed with acute leukaemia.

The Bulgarian watched Villa’s match against Chelsea on Saturday in which his side came back from two goals down before losing 4-2.

During the course of the game, both sets of supporters gave the midfielder a standing ovation in the 19th minute, in a tribute linked with the midfielder's shirt number.
Taking to his official Twitter account, Blatter said: “Very sad to hear about Stiliyan Petrov’s illness. Wish him strength in his fight to win this battle.”
